YOLO: Vitalik Buterin Donated $300k Worth Of Crypto To Three Ethereum Startups

Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s creator, donated $300,000 in crypto to three blockchain startups. He seems to have made this decision in response to a Twitter thread.

The three projects which have received the 1,000 ETH grants are Prysmatic Labs, ChainSafe Systems and Sigma Prime.

The startups are working on Ethereum 2.0

All these are projects working to build the blockchain network’s next iteration, Ethereum 2.0. Sigma Prime is building an Ethereum 2.0 client called Lighthouse, Prysmatic Labs is working on Ethereum scalability, and ChainSafe is also building an Ethereum 2.0 client.

This move came in response to a Twitter thread in which essential members of the Ethereum community have addressed how the tech might be improved.

Some voices said that slow development is due to lack of funding.

Preston Van Loon, the co-founder of Prysmatic Labs and a software engineer at Google, tweeted that, even with recent grants, “it’s hard enough to take the whole team full time with significant pay cuts and it’s certainly not even for us to scale the team to where we need it.”

Buterin replied: “Just sent 1000 eth. Yolo.”

ETH could see a rally by the end of the year

It seems that from the very first time since September, there’s a technical indicator which is pointing to a potential rally for ETH, now at the end of the year.

Bloomberg has reported that the last time when the GTI VERA Convergence Divergence Technical Gauge (which detects trend reversals) has found a similar pattern, ETH rallied back then for about a month.

Apart from this, Ethereum has a lot to be proud of these days. The community has seen lots of achievements lately and there’s more to come.

The latest data reported by The Block from Etherescan.io says that the number of unique Ethereum addresses recently hit a new milestone and surpasses a key figure – 50 million.
