Tech giant Amazon prepares to launch a blockchain service that helps clients develop blockchain networks without having to deal with the high costs of creating their very own platform.
During Amazon’s re:Invent conference, it was announced that the Amazon Managed Blockchain platform “is a fully managed service that makes it easy to create and manage scalable blockchain networks.”
Users will be able to build platforms using Hyperledger Fabric or Ethereum.
“Amazon Managed Blockchain eliminates the overhead required to create the network, and automatically scales to meet the demands of thousands of applications running millions of transactions,” the service’s website says.
Amazon Quantum Ledger Database
The company also announced that the blockchain platform would be able to store data on another database product and said the following:
“Managed Blockchain can replicate an immutable copy of your blockchain network activity into Amazon Quantum Ledger Database (QLDB), a fully managed ledger database. This allows you to easily analyze the network activity outside the network and gain insights into trends.”
It’s important to note that the QLDB is not a blockchain platform, but it can be used together with Amazon’s blockchain product in order to keep a verifiable and complex history of data changes.
The service is in preview
The service is currently in preview, and this means that users who are interested in signing up they can do so.
If they are approved, they will be able to create a blockchain network, and they can invite other Amazon Web Services members or create more members in their account in order to stimulate a “multi-member network.”

Amazon made headlines again when recently the highly popular XRP developer Wietse Wind started working on a brand new project that brings XRP to Amazon Alexa.
The third-party feature will allow users to check their balances and send and receive XRP by simply saying a few easy commands. This project is set to bring the XRP Tip Bot to Alexa.
